Incense and Oils

Using Incense, Oils and Aromatherapy in Your Magick

For millennia our ancestors have used herbs to create a vast array of magical substances. Precious ointments secreted within horn containers or crystal jars were rubbed onto the body to effect magical transformations. Brews were sipped or sprinkled to ward off evil and negativity. Fragrant barks and woods were thrown onto hot coals to release their scents and powers.

The actual formulas for such sachets, ointments, brews, incenses and oils were often kept secret, locked within the Witches’ spell books and magicians’ grimoires, or even deeper in the farthest recesses of the human mind. Upon entrance into the starlit circles of the “wise ones,” these secret recipes were revealed, enabling the student to use them in rite, spell and everyday life.
